Distinguishing features

"Diaphonia have a transverse apex to mesosternal process and more rounded bilobed clypeus. Aphanesthes have a more spearheaded shaped mesosternal process and more elongate clypeus. Unfortunately your spm being a female makes determination to species more difficult. The shape of pygidium unclear. If males are associated then Aphanesthes pullata have very dense short seta along posterior margin of mesofemur (felt like), whereas that of male Aphanethes trapezifera have normally setose mesofemur. Furthermore Aphanesthes are flower vistors and Diaphonia mostly are not." (@paulmhutchinson, iNaturalist, Dec 2021)
