©Anne Hoggett: Ophiothrix (Acanthophiothrix) sp. 2, very difficult to see on the surface of a Goniopora coral in the lagoon entrance channel, Lizard Island. Arms are at least 7 times the disc diameter which is estimated at about 2 mm in this specimen.

Distinguishing features

A tiny, delicate brittlestar with a dark midline on each arm that extends to the centre of the disc. Arm spines long and spine ridges well-separated from each other. Disc appears to lack any spines or granules.
