Local abundance

  • Lizard Island, Queensland, Australia: The Atlas of Living Australia (accessed 8 April 2012) shows two records of this species at Lizard Island dating from 1884 and 1847. Presumably the 1847 record is from MacGillivray's report on the voyage of the HMS Rattlesnake, in which he also refers to having seen "quail" in 1844. It has never been recorded at Lizard Island since, although ALA has recent records of the species at nearby Nymph Island and the Turtle Island.
