Distinguishing features

Teeth visible when mouth is closed. Three dark bars on rear half of body, broader than those of Saurida nebulosa. "Pectoral fin long... tip of which extends clearly past pelvic insertion to within two or three scale rows of dorsal origin" (Waples, 1981).
