Distinguishing features

At distance, appears uniformly pale grey with a slightly darker bar at tail base. Seen more closely, pale blue streaks on scales and blue markings on cheek and gill cover are evident. Blue ring around the eye. Allen et al (2003) report a small black spot at pectoral fin base but that is not evident in one of the Lizard Island specimens shown here.
