Distinguishing features
Colobometrids have a pair of tubercles (one on each side of the midline) or a transverse ridge on their middle and distal cirrus segments. Oligometrides adeonae has a pair of transverse ridges on those cirrus segments. On the outer sides of the arms, the most proximal three pinnules decrease in size progressively.

Distribution and habitat preferences
The specimen in the photo above was collected in a reef habitat. However, the species appears to be more common in deeper soft-bottom habitats such as in Watson's Bay (Messing et al, 2006).
