Distinguishing features

Small colony with many short branches, very spiky to the touch.

Phil Alderslade noted: "That's a weirdo, Anne! Growth form is very odd. It looks like it's trying to be a Dendronephthya, but the polyp arrangement is not quite right. Also, the surface of the branches is not translucent. There should be big sclerites visible there. It actually looks a nephtheid in symbiosis with a sponge." (iNaturalist, 9 Dec 2019)
