Distinguishing features

15 to 20 arms, cirri with up to about 30 segments. IIBr with 4 ossicles, a syzygy between 3rd and 4th.

Similar taxa

Comments

This crinoid may be Heterometra crenulata. The species was first recorded from Lizard Island by Messing et al (2006) in the same habitat as the photographed specimen. Unfortunately, the pinnules cannot be seen well enough in the photo to be sure.

The photographed specimen matches the description of Heterometra crenulata in having about 15 robust arms, the second arm division of four ossicles, and about 13 cirri with about 28 segments.

Cannot discount Zygometra comata.
