Comments

This crayfish was found in the gills of a large orange fish caught on hook and line by commercial fishermen at 500 m depth. The photos were identified by Shane Ahyong (Australian Museum) as Nupalirus, possibly Nupalirus japonicus but examination of the specimen is needed. The genus has not been recorded in Australia before.
