Distinguishing features
A beautifully patterned starfish with a distinct double row of marginal plates defining the edge of the body. In the upper row, large and small plates tend to alternate in the outer half of the arms. Upper surface is flat, with fine, low, even granulation. Pores between the plates are conspicuous on the upper surface but absent or rare on the lower surface. There are no plates between the upper and lower rows of marginal plates.
