Distribution and habitat preferences

Comatella sp(p). are usually entwined within coral branches. In deeper soft-bottom habitats, individuals are necessarily exposed and cling to algae. Comatella sp(p). are found most places around the island group and they are especially common at North Reef. Messing (2006) records Comatella nigra as part of an unusual soft-bottom fauna in 12 to 17 m depth off Osprey Island.
