Distinguishing features

The distinctive colour of the photographed individual does not match any species known from the Lizard Island area.

A photo showing an animal with similar colour and markings is identified as Ophiomastix flaccida by Coleman (2007, pp. 63, 64). That species occurs in northern Australia (Clark and Rowe, 1971) but there are no records of it from there in Atlas of Living Australia (accessed 28 Jan 2019).
