The photographed specimen is from Princess Charlotte Bay, north of Lizard Island. It was identified from the photo by Dr Shane Ahyong, Australian Museum. Shane notes that this species is fairly common on reef slopes of the Great Barrier Reef but is rarely seen because it is shy and nocturnal.
