Distinguishing features

A shrub with glossy, quite thick, almost circular, opposite leaves. Oil drops visible within the leaf with a lens. Bark fissured. Globular fruit more than 1 cm diameter turns red when ripe, edible.

An iNaturalist record (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/153943119) looks very much like the Lizard Island photos. Observer Russell Cumming (former Principal Botanist at the Queensland Herbarium) notes in his iNaturalist record: "This is a very common taxon around Townsville and the greater region. It is substantially different to the real E. reinwardtiana and needs to be described as a separate species."
