Distinguishing features

Dictyota is a widespread genus with many species. It has a thin, flat thallus that divides dichotomously and there is no midrib. Two species have been recorded from the Lizard Island area (Dictyota dichotoma and Dictyota bartayresiana) but more are likely to exist.
