Distinguishing features

Encrusting to laminar colonies forming columns centrally with large, rounded verrucae that merge into ridges.

Similar to Montipora palawanensis and Montipora undata in having ridges formed by large, rounded verrucae and which are known from this area. However, the former species is not reported to form columns and the latter forms thick columns rather than the more delicate ones shown here.

Montipora danae and Montipora verrucosa also have large, rounded verrucae and are known from the area. However, their verrucae do not form ridges away from the colony margin.
