Distinguishing features

Small (2-4 mm) individual polyps with a distinctive epitheca surrounding the corallite. Groups of polyps are found in groups in caves and dark overhangs.

This appears to be the first record of the genus from the GBR between Lady Musgrave Island and Torres Strait (Atlas of Living Australia accessed 15 Nov 2020). Those specimens were identifed as Culicia tenella.
