Distinguishing features

Colonies are flat, encrusting, often with short columns or tubes and often large (> 1 m; Veron, 2000).

The species is known from the Lizard Island area only from two observations on the outer reef in 2007. The species name is accepted (WORMS accessed 3 May 2020) but ALA (accessed 3 May 2020) notes that Astreopora moretonensis is the accepted name in Australia at least.
