Distinguishing features

Colonies with short, rounded lobes. Polyps extended during the day, Goniopora-like but with only twelve tentacles. Tentacles long and tapering, giving colony a shaggy appearance.

This species could be Alveopora allingi, A. fenestrata, or A. verrilliana according to characters listed in Corals of the World (accessed 5 Mar 2022).
