Photo of Animalia: species: Conus virgo

A juvenile Conus virgo about 2.5 cm long, away from base of reef slope off Coconut Beach, Lizard Island. Identified by Dr Richard Willan, who notes: Straight (not waisted) profile; sharply keeled shoulder and low spire; purple stain at abapical end; and lack of raised spiral ridges over the last whorl.
