A small (1 m) crocodile was reported by Resort guests on Bird Islet. Later that day, several people from LIRS saw it on the beach then it slid into the water where it was continually divebombed by terns. This is the first crocodile at Lizard Island on record at LIRS. LIRS staff at that time had been there since 1988 without any sightings.
