QPWS found this animal on land on Bird Islet after tramping around on it - was not seen spotlighting from boat all around the island. Length advised as "a bit more than 2 m". A scute was taken for DNA analysis. Exact time of sighting not known, just that it was Wed night.

It is highly likely that this is the animal that followed Jenni Donelson and Shannon McMahon at Mangrove Beach on 18 Nov 2020. QPWS has been looking for it since they arrived on 20 Nov. They had eyes on it near Chinaman's Ridge for hours on Sunday 22 Nov but could not safely euthanase it there as there were so many boats nearby. They saw no croc at all between then and when they found it on the Wed night despite exhaustive searching between Mangrove Beach and Watson's Bay (and Mermaid Cove?). They had not looked at Bird Islet until we mentioned it on the Wed afternoon.
