Byron Kurth is a travel agent based in Port Douglas who was staying at resort.

In an email to Anne Hoggett dated 17 March 2014, he noted: "... on Saturday late afternoon I spotted a crocodile in front of the resort swimming towards Watsons Bay, probably settled into the mangroves on the western end."

And in another email the next day: "I couldn't get a good look at the head, but judging from how high the eyes were out of the water I would say it would've been about 3 meters"
