Jenni and Shannon McMahon were snorkelling near the mangroves. Jenni saw the croc (est 2 to 2.5 m long) amongst the mangrove roots, told Shannon who was nearby, then the croc moved towards them. It came so close that Jenni had to poke it under the chin with her speargun. That stopped it for a moment, then it continued to follow them quite closely almost all the way to the beach, 50 m away.

The incident was reported to QPWS Wildlife and they may come out to deal with it. This is almost certainly the same animal that was seen near the resort earlier on the same day and late on the previous day.
