Distinguishing features

Uniform red or brown/red body colouration, black fins, five blue vertical lines on the face (similar to Gobiodon quinquestrigatus), and a gold ring around the eye.

Gobiodon sp D is a local name for this species, used by coral goby researchers at Lizard Island.
