Bill Rudman in Sea Slug Forum (accessed 13 Aug 2017) suggests that Bulla ampulla and Bulla vernicosa may be synonyms. Both species have been recorded from Lizard Island by people knowlegeable in the field and their photos have been included here as identified by them.
