Distinguishing features

Small vermetids that form dense intertidal aggregations.

The population at Mermaid Cove, Lizard Island, was sampled in late 2020 and sequenced in 2021 by PhD student Richard (Dylan) Corner of University of Queensland. This placed it within Dendropoma but there was no matching sequence available to identify the species. Dylan advises that the genus-level id was confirmed by Assoc. Prof. Timothy Rawlings from Cape Brenton University based on morphology and his separate analysis. Thanks to both Dylan and Timothy for the id.
